The event covers all the major cities and enable readers to meet with authors at the dedication desks. In 1927 Geza Supka the editor in chief of the "Literatura" magazine proposed to settle book promoting days at the same time every year. His dream was that every hungarian town and city will organize the event where writers and audience can be in direct contact with each other. His plan became a reality in 1929, when they opened the first Festive Book Day in Vorosmarty square, Budapest. Few decades later the event grew to a week long festival surviving the hard days of the 20th century. It was only one year when they had to cancel the programmes, in 1957 just after the bloody events of the 1956`s revolution.
