Voluntary mutual health and self-help funds
 

Their foundation

These kind of funds are counter organisations which are founded by the decision of natural people or by employees after the initiation of their employer, according to the principle of independence reciprocity, solidarity and voluntarity. To the foundation at least 15 natural people are required. The Act 1993. XCVI. about the voluntary mutual pension funds and the 268/1997 (XII.22.) Government Decree on certain managing rules of the voluntary mutual health and self-help funds contains the most important rules of these funds.
 

The basic functions of the voluntary health funds

The basic functions of voluntary health funds - under the law - are organizing and financing programs for health protection and purchase of health services. In addition, the health fund may also perform self-help functions for health such as: price subsidy for medicines and medical aids, in case of illness of the members a compensation instead of the income fallen out, and support for relatives of the dead.
 

Services provided by the voluntary health funds

The voluntary health fund- according to the Act 1993. XCVI. - can provide supplementary health insurance and lifestyle remedial services to the members (if they choose it) and to their close relatives.
